Games…

Last night I played Truth or Dare and Never Have I Ever with the 10 year old. One of the best questions she asked was if I had ever laughed at a joke that wasn’t funny. Before I could answer, she looked at me and said, ‘Mom, you’ve fake laughed at my jokes haven’t you? I knew it!” We both had a good laugh.

The Best Part of My Day

September 26, 2013

Yesterday, Journey informed me that the best part of my day is coming home to Journey! She is correct. Being a parent is one of the most challenging things I have ever attempted to do. Somedays I do it really poorly. Other days, I think I’m doing ok. Either way, I can’t imagine not being Journey’s mommy. When we tell her about her birth story, she always reminds me to tell her the part about how I was sad before she was born because I didn’t have any little kids to love, and how I’m SO happy now because I have her. I do love that child.

She’s Smart

September 26, 2014

Journey: “When I grow up I want to be a medic astronaut.”
Me: “why?”
J: “So I can help people on earth.”
Me: “That’s great.”
J: “Mom, did you know puppies can float in outer space?”
Me: “How do you know that?”
J: “Because I’m smart.”
Me: “Who said you’re smart?”
J: “Everybody!”

Santa’s Making His List and Checking It Twice

Conversation with Journey (September 5, 2015)

Yesterday, Journey wanted to decorate the front porch for Halloween. So, yes, we are the people with a big, plastic lighted pumpkin on our front porch! Today, she is writing her Christmas wish list. As she writes the list, she turns to me and says, “I’m not going to ask for a new mom. You’re the bestest mom ever and I like my old mom.” Well, I guess I’m safe for now!

I wonder what she will ask for this year.

Boys

Conversation with Journey at the bus stop (September 1, 2015)

Me: When you get on the bus sit with another little kid
J: not a boy!
Me: you can sit with a little boy
J:uggghh
Me: haven’t you made friends with some boys at school?
J: Well, “tech-nick-ly” no!

Love…

Conversation with Journey (August 29, 2014)

Journey: “Mom, I will never love a pine cone as I much as I love you! Well, I love you both the same.”

That’s how kids are…

Conversation with Journey (August 19, 2014)

Journey: “Mom, everywhere I go I love you always –
well, most times …”
Me: “Then, why are you a pain sometimes?”
Journey: “‘Cause that’s what kids are!”
