“Must be…”

Conversations with Journey from July 26, 2011

Me: “J, you’re not drinking as much chocolate milk as you usually do.”
J: “I must not be my normal self.”

**
Watching TV, when Journey sees two people hug:

J: “They must be in love.”
Me: “What does being in love mean?”
J: “I don’t know, but I do know I love you.”

Doubt

Conversation with Journey from July 25, 2015

Journey: “You’re the best Mom ever because you never doubt me.”

May I always be her biggest believer and supporter.

Ask Siri (Updated)

Earlier tonight, Journey was in tears as she frantically searched for a missing Shopkin, a toy the size of a small safety pin. Finally, she begged me to,”just Google it Mom”. When I tried to explain that we couldn’t find the toy using Google, she begged me to ask Siri to find it. She pleaded with me to “just type in ‘where is Journey’s light purple Lippy Lulu Shopkin?'”). Unfortunately, Siri was not able to find it, but she did give us directions to the “Journeys” store at the local mall.

Update (7/25/17) – the missing Shopkin has been located!

Worry

Conversation with Journey from July 22, 2015

Me: What’s your phone number?
J: You mean my dad’s number?
Me: Yes
J: 1-814…
Me: high five – good job- what’s your address?
J: Mom, let’s don’t worry about that right now

Sometimes it takes a child to help you put worrying in perspective.

The simple things in life

These photos were taken at my husband’s mother’s house in Silvara, Pennsylvania, in July of 2011. Looking at these photos reminds me of how little it really takes to make a child happy – just an old tub, water, and a few plastic toys, and Journey was happy.

The questions children ask

Being a Mom means never have a shortage of questions to answer.

A few questions from Journey include:

“Mom, what shall we talk about?” I don’t know….

“Whats’ the real purpose of socks?” Great question…

“Did you have fun growing up in your town?” Yes, how about you?

“If my tummy hurts will you come pick me up from grandma’s” Yes, on Sunday…

“Are ghosts real?” Do you think they’re real?

“Why do people have to die?” You’ll have to ask God or your dad about that…

“Who do you love more – me or Daddy? Come on, tell me the truth.” Who do you think?

“If you don’t have money for the arcade how are you going to pay for dinner?” I have a credit card, not cash…

“Can I watch just two more videos?” Are they short ones?

Watery Eyes and Babies

Conversation with Journey while shopping in the baby section.

Journey: “Awwwwww. My eyes are watering.”

Me: “Are you crying?”

J: “Why wouldn’t I be? These baby clothes are just soooo cute.”

Me: “Awww”

J: “You know I love babies. That’s why I’ve been begging for a baby sister or brother.”

Me: giving her the side eye and silence

J: “Now my other eye is watering, but it’s just because I have something in it.”

Mermaids

On her way to camp (at the beach) this morning, I asked Journey to say hello to the other mermaids and the dolphins. Her reply:

J: “Mom! I won’t be a able to see them today.”

Me: “Why not?”

J: “They (the mermaids) only come out when it’s just me, not other people!”

I should have known that! Silly Mom.
